Happy Island, the new game by the renowned game designer David Cage, has just released its first trailer.
Cage, who is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed games Journey, Gone Home and the first Uncharted game, is no stranger to the quirky world of video games.
But his latest title, Happy Island 2, is something else entirely.
It is a very different kind of game to his previous titles, and the result is something we have not seen before from Cage.
Cage has built a game which has more of a heart and a soul to it than anything we’ve seen from him before.
Cage said in an interview with GameSpot: “I’ve always loved this idea of being a storyteller in the way that the game’s characters tell their stories, and that’s why I love games, because the storytellers are telling their own stories.”
Happy Island was created as a result of his love of making games.
“I love games.
I love the challenge of it, and I love how it changes the way you think about the world and about the player.
I’ve been wanting to make a game like that since I was a kid, and when I got the chance to make Happy Island it was such a huge inspiration,” Cage said.

He describes the shape as ‘an island on top’, with a ‘vibrant palette’ of colours.

In addition to his main characters, there are also many ‘guilds’ to join, and many ‘friends’ to form bonds with.
Cage tells me he likes to play games with people that are very similar to himself, and sometimes he’ll play with people he doesn’t know very well, or people who don’t know him well at all.
The island, he says, is “one of those places where it feels very unique”.
“I wanted to make something that felt very different, because that’s the thing that makes games so special,” Cage says.
