The island is famous for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and turquoiseshell crystal, and its resident cat is no different.
In April 2018, the island resident was feeding his pet kitty when the cat suddenly became a dragon.
“It just became a little bit out of control,” said Darrin McBride, who has lived on Plum Island for four decades.
“She just jumped off the rock and started dragging me along.”
As the cat ran away, McBride says he was able to get some air and a couple of towels and jumped into the water to try and revive his cat.
The cat was quickly found and taken to a vet.
It’s now recovering at the veterinary hospital.
“The vet was like, ‘Oh my god, you just got a dragon,'” McBride said.
The next day, he and his cat were back on the island, having lunch.
“That was kind of the first day I had cats,” McBride told ABC News.
“We’re just kind of a family.
It was a good bonding experience.”
The island cat is now back with her family, and it’s unclear what prompted her to suddenly turn into a beast.
“I don’t know what caused it to be there, but we’re not sure why it’s there,” McBelies said.
He says the cat was never in danger of becoming a monster.
The island has been visited by celebrities, including the Kardashians and Katy Perry, who were all there on vacation.
“People are always saying, ‘I can’t believe that happened to you,'” McBelys said.
“But it was a little unexpected.”
